Step-Through E-Bike FAQs
What is a step-through e-bike?
A step-through e-bike has a low or open frame section that lets you get on and off without lifting your leg over a high top tube. It combines easier frame access with electric assistance. “Step-through” describes the frame design, rather than a specific motor system or riding category.
Why choose a step-through e-bike instead of a step-over?
Choose a step-through frame if you prefer to get on and off without lifting your leg over a high top tube. The lower frame opening is useful for frequent stops, riding in everyday clothes or getting on a bike with luggage fitted behind the saddle. The main benefit is easier access—not a different type of electric assistance.
Which Baicycle step-through e-bike should I choose?
For daily commuting and shopping, start with our GSPEED BU03. It combines a mid-drive motor with front and rear lights, mudguards and a rear rack.
For a fat tyre setup with front and rear suspension, compare our Raptor S, which uses 20 × 4-inch tyres and a long, moto-style saddle.
For an extended rear carrying area, explore our GSPEED BG02 and BG03 cargo models. These are the options to compare when carrying space is a priority, rather than choosing a bike solely for its low-step frame.
Does a step-through frame mean the bike will fit a shorter rider?
Not automatically. A low frame opening makes the bike easier to step into, but saddle height and handlebar reach still determine whether you can ride comfortably.
For our GSPEED BU03, the size guide recommends Regular for riders 160–170 cm and Large for riders 170–180 cm. These are starting points, not a guarantee of fit. Your inside-leg length and preferred riding position also matter, and other models in our step-through range have their own sizing requirements.
Do I need a cargo e-bike just to carry shopping?
Not necessarily. Our GSPEED BU03 includes a MIK rear rack rated to carry up to 27 kg, so a work bag or everyday shopping does not automatically require a cargo model. Use compatible, securely fitted bags or baskets.
For more rear carrying space or heavier loads, our longtail GSPEED BG02 has a rear rack rated to carry up to 70 kg. These figures are rack limits, not total bike load limits; always follow the bike’s loading instructions and the ratings of any fitted accessories.
