Electric Mountain Bike FAQs
What is an electric mountain bike?
An electric mountain bike, or e-MTB, is a mountain bike with a motor and battery that assist your pedalling. It combines off-road tyres and suspension with extra support for climbs and longer rides. Our GSPEED FS01 and FS02 are full-suspension e-MTBs with mid-drive motors.
How do I choose an electric mountain bike?
Start with the terrain you plan to ride, your regular ride distance and your fit on the bike. Compare motor assistance, suspension, battery capacity, brakes and overall weight. Check reach and standover height as well as the suggested rider-height range. We recommend choosing a bike that suits your typical rides rather than comparing motor power or maximum range alone.
Why choose a mid-drive electric mountain bike for hills?
A mid-drive motor delivers assistance through the bike's drivetrain, allowing it to work with the gears as gradients change. Our GSPEED FS01 and FS02 use BAFANG mid-drive motors rated at 250 W, with 120 Nm of torque and five pedal-assist levels. Climbing performance also depends on the gear you select, your pedalling effort, total load and the steepness of the route.
What is the difference between hardtail and full-suspension electric mountain bikes?
A hardtail e-MTB has a suspension fork but no rear shock. A full-suspension e-MTB has both, helping absorb bumps at the front and rear. A hardtail generally needs less suspension maintenance, while full suspension is worth considering for more uneven terrain. Our GSPEED FS01 and FS02 both have 145 mm air-suspension forks and rear air shocks.
What terrain are Baicycle electric mountain bikes suited to?
Our GSPEED FS01 and FS02 are intended for recreational rides on gravel tracks, woodland routes and maintained trails. Both combine full suspension with 29 × 2.35-inch mountain bike tyres. Choose trails that match your riding skills and the bike's intended use. For technical descents, jumps or bike-park use, contact us to check the model's approved use before riding.
What is the difference between the GSPEED FS01 and FS02?
The main difference between our GSPEED FS01 and FS02 is the rear suspension layout. The FS01 has a near-vertical rear shock in front of the seat tube, while the FS02 has an angled rear shock beneath the top tube.
Both are full-suspension electric mountain bikes with a 250 W BAFANG mid-drive motor, a removable 720 Wh battery and 29 × 2.35-inch tyres.
How far can I ride a Baicycle electric mountain bike on one charge?
Our GSPEED FS01 and FS02 each have a removable 720 Wh battery and offer a range of up to 100 km per charge. This is a maximum-range figure, not a guaranteed distance on mountain trails. Actual range depends on rider and luggage weight, elevation gain, assist level, tyre pressure, temperature and riding conditions. For hilly rides, plan conservatively and leave a battery reserve for the return journey.
Do Baicycle electric mountain bikes meet Australian e-bike requirements?
The GSPEED FS01 and FS02 are listed by Baicycle as EN15194 certified, with a rated 250W motor and motor assistance limited to 25 km/h.
E-bike rules and trail-access requirements can vary between Australian states, territories and individual land managers, so riders should check the current rules where they intend to ride. Australian government guidance identifies EN15194-compliant electrically power-assisted cycles around the 250W continuous-rated-power and 25 km/h assistance framework, while individual jurisdictions can apply additional requirements or transitional arrangements.
